Spring Festival, Childrens Day, National Day, Halloween, Christmas ...

2. Free talk

TWhat day is it today ?

Whats the date today ?

T: Now, whats the date?

SIts the first of January.

TSo what the festival is it now?

SNew Year s Day.

TGreat! Look ! New Years Day is coming.

And I am going to watch fireworks on New Year’s Day.

Do you like fireworks? Follow me.

TWhat are you going to do on New Year’s Day ?

You can say “I am going to ...”

T:Whats the date now?

SIts the tenth of February.

TNice, what festival is it ? Listen.

S:(Say it togetherChinese New Year.

TVery good. And today we will learn Unit 8 Chinese New Year.

Step 2 Pre-reading

1. Guessing time

TNow, lets play a guessing game. Its small and red. Its made of paper.

And we put money in it. Whats it?

SA red packet.

THere are some packets, open it and see what will happen.

TThe first one, here is a question. 2024 is the year of ... ? Dragon.

Next, please talk about what are you going to do at Chinese New Year

SI am going to ... (get together with families, eat dumplings...)

TThe last one, when is Chinese New Year in 2024 ?

2. Know more about Chinese New Year

TLet me tell you. The tenth of February is Chinese New Years Day.

Who knows what do we call the day before Chinese New Years Day?

SChinese New Years Eve.

TVery good. We call it Chinese New Years Eve.

So evemeans the day or the evening before the festival.

TWhat about these days? Theyre before...Chinese New Year.

So we call it before Chinese New Year.

Step 3 While-reading

1. Listen and answer

TOk, boys and girls, here is a picture.

Who is she ? Where is she from ? Lets listen to the tape.

SShe is Anna. (And she is Su Hais e-friend.) She is from Hong Kong.

TGreat! Now read it together.

SChinese New Year is coming.

Su Hai gets an email from her e-friend Anna in Hong Kong.

TWhat is the e-mail about ?

SChines New Year.

TYes, its the subject. What does it mean? (主题)

2. Watch and answer

TAnna is going to talk about her Chinese New Year in Hong Kong.

So what is she going to do at Chinese New Year ?

TAt first, what is Anna going to do before Chinese New Year ?

Lets watch and answer the question.

SShe is going to buy some clothes and food.

She is going to make some cakes and tangyuan.

3. Read and answer (关于“除夕 & 春节当天”内容)

TThen, what is Anna going to do on Chinese New Years Eve ?

And what is Anna going to do on Chinese New Years Day ?

Please read the e-mail by yourselves and answer the questions.
