And I am going to watch fireworks on New Year’s Day.

You can say “I am going to ...”

S：It’s the tenth of February.

T：Nice, what festival is it ? Listen.

S：（Say it together）Chinese New Year.

1. Guessing time

T：Now, let’s play a guessing game. It’s small and red. It’s made of paper.

And we put money in it. What’s it?

S：A red packet.

T：Here are some packets, open it and see what will happen.

T：The first one, here is a question. 2024 is the year of ... ? Dragon.

Next, please talk about what are you going to do at Chinese New Year？

S：I am going to ... (get together with families, eat dumplings...)

T：The last one, when is Chinese New Year in 2024 ?

2. Know more about Chinese New Year

T：Let me tell you. The tenth of February is Chinese New Year’s Day.

Who knows what do we call the day before Chinese New Year’s Day?

S：Chinese New Year’s Eve.

T：Very good. We call it “Chinese New Year’s Eve”.

So “eve”means the day or the evening before the festival.

T：What about these days? They’re before...Chinese New Year.

So we call it before Chinese New Year.

Step 3 While-reading

T：Ok, boys and girls, here is a picture.

Who is she ? Where is she from ? Let’s listen to the tape.

S：She is Anna. (And she is Su Hai’s e-friend.) She is from Hong Kong.

T：Great! Now read it together.

Su Hai gets an email from her e-friend Anna in Hong Kong.
