Step 1 Pre-reading

1. Enjoy a song

T: Hello, boys and girls.

S: Hello, Miss Xu.

T: Are you ready for the class?

S: Yes.

T: Let’s enjoy a song first.

S: OK.

2. Introduce the title

T: What can you see in the song?

S: I can see some boys.

T: Yes. We can see some Indian boys. But how many ?

Today we’ll learn : Unit3 How many ?

3. Let’s count

T&S: one, two, three,…, ten.

T: Ten Indian boys have some arrows.

Look. I have a pencil. What do you have? Open your pencil case and have a look.

(teach: What do you have?)

4. Let’s talk

T: What do you have?

S1: I have a …

T: Can I have a look?

(teach: can, have a look)

S2: Yes. /OK.

T: Try to ask Miss Xu.

S3: What do you have, Miss Xu?

T: I have some pencils.

S3: Can I have look?

T: Sure. (teach: sure)

5. Ask and answer

T: Practice with your partners and ask them what they have.

A: I have a/ an / some….

A: Can I have a look?

B: Sure/ Yes/ OK.

Step 2 While-reading

1. Let’s count together

T: Well, boys and girls. You have some pencils.

Look! This little boy has something good, too.

Can you count?

S: one, two, three, …thirteen.

(teach: thirteen)

T: This little girl has something beautiful. What are they?

They’re stickers. (teach: sticker, stickers.)

What do you think of them?

S: How nice!/How beautiful/ Very beautiful.

(teach: very)

2. Watch and choose

Our old friends, Mike and Helen also have some things.

Let’s watch and find out what they have.

S: Watch the flash and answer.

T: What does Mike have?

S1: I have some toy cars.

T: What does Helen have?

S2: I have some stickers.

3. Scan and find

T: Read the story quickly and find out the numbers of their things. Try to underline the sentences.

S1: I have fifteen toy cars.

S2: I have fifteen stickers.

T: Helen’s stickers are very beautiful. Do you like them?

4. Read and think

T: Does Yang Ling like the stickers? Try to read and find.

S: Yes. “Can I have one?’

(teach: have one)

T: Does Helen still have fifteen stickers?

S: No.

T: Why?

S: Helen gives one sticker to Yang Ling.

T: What do you think of Helen?

S: Generous.

T: Remember to share good things with your friend.

5. Follow and imitate

T: Let’s read the story after the cartoon. Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.

S: Read after the cartoon.
